Today's concert in Spartan Stadium marks U2's return to the city of East Lansing. Their previous visit was in 1981 when they performed in the bar Dooley's, as a part of their October Tour. Back then U2 was a far less eccentric and a little bit shy, according to Roger Martin who attended the 1981 show.
The band hails from Dublin, Ireland and was formed in 1976.
The face of U2, who splits his time between rock and philanthropy, is Bono. He is the lead vocals and sometimes plays guitar.
The Edge, who's actual name is David Howell Evans, plays guitar, keyboard and does back-up vocals. He has been in U2 since its creation and has recorded 12 albums with the band and one solo album.
Adam Clayton is the bassist for U2, and has one 22 Grammy awards with the band. He is also known for his solo work, including a collaboration with fellow band mate Larry Mullen Jr. on the theme of the 1996 film Mission: Impossible. Mullen is the drummer and founder of U2. However, he has said after 10 minutes of being around Bono he lost all hope of trying to be the leader of the band.
