At this point university officials have no plans for the site on the corner of Shaw Lane and Red Cedar Road.
Once the 'MSC' smokestack is removed the only thing left will be the old Shaw Power Plant, which is unusable due to asbestos.
It would cost $3 million alone just to remove the asbestos from the old power plant before demolition or renovation, said Michigan State University engineer Bob Nestle, who added the building is currently in "limbo."
This site's lack of future is just one of the many planning problems the university has had with vacant halls or buildings in the past years.
